Suction and filtration systems for the graphics and printing industry

The choice of products, machines and extraction arms for the air suction, filtration and purification from pollutants within the paper-making, graphics and printing industry, must take account of several very different production processes.

Dust collectors for paper processing

The paper and cardboard industry, in the strict sense of the word, mostly requires dust collectors when, having completed the wet processes of cellulose extraction and paper mixing, work continues with the cutting of paper wrapped in coils that will then continue its life going through graphic and printing processes. In this first phase there is therefore the need to suck up the dust that is generated precisely from the freshly produced paper cutting.

Filtration of pollutants during printing and binding

Continuing to follow the process, we encounter the need to suck up fumes and dust caused by various letterpress printing processes (screen printing, lithography, thermo-graphic printing, hot printing, offset printing, etc.) where the main need is to extract and filter fumes, dust and vapours due to the presence of solvents and inks which during the printing are dispersed in the environment because of movement and heating.

Finally, subsequent to the printing phase, there is still the phase of paper cutting, trimming and binding. The latter part of the process generates air dust which is easily captured and filtrated through extraction arms and filtering machines.

Summarizing: for applications including the preparation of inks, paints and varnishes, topographical and lithographic printing, screen printing, pad printing and others, drying and polymerisation processes, cleaning of equipment with cleaning fluids based on volatile organic substances (VOS-VOC) or still for gluing operations and bookbinding, active carbon machines are recommended and, if necessary, also equipped with HEPA absolute filter (with H13 efficiency). The dry dust collectors are common during the phases of trimming, cutting, wrapping and packaging where in fact powders and dust tend to be dispersed in the environment.
